Okay, I don’t know if someone pissed off Winter, pissed off Autumn, or if someone is trying to outdo the other in “hold my beer” style, but we got almost 7 inches of snow this week. In OCTOBER, mind you. Yes, I do live in Minne-snow-ta, but this was a record-setting event: according to the weather wonks, it’s been 104 YEARS since we had more than 3 inches of snow this early.
Even the Halloween Blizzard of ’91 was, well, on Halloween.
And we’re due for more inches on Sunday (tomorrow).
So, who stole autumn? And damn it, autumn is my favorite!
Granted, any snow we get usually melts if we get it before Turkey Day, but someone must have figured if they’re going to go through all the work of dumping half a foot of snow on us, they’re gonna make sure it doesn’t all melt. High temps for the next couple of days aren’t going to clear freezing.
I mean, 2020 has not been on my “top ten” list of years since the LCC conference in San Diego was cancelled this spring, but I am soooo leaving a 1-star review …
Anyway, I’m gearing up for NaNoWriMo. This year Sisters in Crime is a major sponsor, so the chapters are encouraging their members to participate. I’m coordinating our chapter, so it’ll be interesting for sure.
Still pounding on the revision. And no kitties this week, just heavy wet snow. On the bright side, working from home means I don’t have to worry about driving in the weather!
Hope you all are staying safe with the uptick in the pandemic! Wear your masks, wash your hands, and consider a virtual Thanksgiving.
My Muse is giving me the stink eye, so I gotta go.
Keep writing! And remember, we have a week until NaNo–see you there!

Here’s what I think, Julie. Your Muse made a deal with Winter and Autumn to keep you indoors so you will write. Just sayin’… 😉 In all seriousness, I know what you mean about autumn. I’ve always liked that season best, and it is sad when it gets cut short, either because of a too-long summer, or a too-long winter. Wishing you well with NaNoWriMo!

Ha! I bet you’re right. He’s devious! It’s not winter per se, because we know it comes every year, it’s just adding a month and a half to an already 4+ month season gets old–fast!
Have a wonderful weekend, Margot!

I don’t think I can give 2020 even one star…lol. We are on opposite ends of weather. Still dry with strong winds coming, which means another power shut off Sunday through Tuesday. Maybe we can trade weather for a bit? Have a great rest of weekend xo

Can we give 2020 negative stars?? I’m all for that! My writing sister who lives in CA said the same thing. She’s up in the mountains, with a fire on the other side of a ridge. Crossing fingers nothing gets worse, and things get better. Good luck!
Have a great weekend, Denise! Stay safe!

Yes, and it’s kinda disheartening–I was hoping to clear out the garden more before the snow flew. Of course, we never expected it to fly before November!
Have a wonderful weekend, Priscilla!

I’m leaving 2020 a one-start review too. Ugh. Too bad we couldn’t do a DNF in March and start on 2021 then.

If we had know how 2020 was going to roll out, I think a LOT of people would have done a DNF and jumped straight into 2021 😀
Have a great weekend, Diana!

I’m looking forward to this year going away. Snow in October? Brrrr. One of the bright spots of this year (maybe the only bright spot) is that we’ve had fall weather. Many times we go from summer in late October straight into winter. And I love fall.
Good luck with NaNo!

I am so with you! As far as I’m concerned, this year can be tossed into the bin. Good to hear you got some good fall weather (lucky!)!
Have a great week, Joan!

“soooo leaving a 1-star review” Lol! I love your way with words. Paul was telling me about your epic record-breaking snow. It’s not MinnIE-snow-ta. Sounds like it should be Mightysnowta. Pics of Zoey on her side like that make me want to rub my face in her soft, warm furriness!

LOL! Love it! Mightysnowta! Reminds me of a trip we took to N Dakota for my brother’s wedding. We told the kids, who were maybe 4 and 6 yrs old at the time, to watch the signs that said we were leaving Minnesota (Minnie-sota). So after miles of telling them we were leaving Minnesota, my daughter pipes up: Where’s maxi-sota? Wish I could have recorded that!
Have a great rest of your week, Betsy!
