It is. The four-letter S word. NOOOOO! It’s too early! It’s only almost the middle of October.
Then again, we will miss out on the BLIZZARD hanging out in North Dakota. Whew!
So not ready for this. I’m still trying to enjoy the fall colors. Sigh. Then again, bonus: what a great excuse to stay inside and write! Granted, this weekend–tomorrow really–is only a taste of winter, and we get back to our regularly-scheduled autumn next week. Cooler than average, but no snow.
I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of the garden; I’ll try to get it once the weather clears up in a couple days. The only things really left are the kale and the brussels sprouts. I’m not going to cover the peppers or zucchini. They will fall to the cold.
I’ve got one more unit left to finish for my class. I get to write a query and synopsis for my WIP. However, I’m going to finish the draft first. Translated: put off writing the query and synopsis as long as possible. 😀
And for those preparing for NaNo this year, I’ll see ya there! (buddy up if you want: my NaNo handle is Aislinge) Depending on how far I get with the draft for Book 2, aka my WIP, aka my class project, I’ll either keep working on that, or start drafting–again–another project I keep thinking about. And I’m going to squeeze in a short story somewhere in there. Our local Sisters in Crime chapter is putting an anthology together again this year. Deadline for submission is December 1. Whether my story will get chosen or not, who knows, but it’d be great if it was.
Another short post this week. Somehow I always feel like I’m trying to keep up or catch up. It’s tough enough to keep up with things around a full-time job, garden stuff (except that’s pretty much done now), and house upkeep (read: the house is sooo not clean). Crossing my fingers any sort of cold or flu stays far away.
Some of my writer friends have been under the weather lately. I know I can’t write or work on the computer when I’m sick, so I tend to watch TV, or maybe read. TV-wise, I will often pull out a How to Train your Dragon movie or a Star Wars movie. What about you? What do you do besides sleep when you’re sick?

That first snowfall did come early, Julie! I have to say, I miss snow. Where I live, we never get any. But I also remember the downside of snow… You’re right, though, that that sort of weather is perfect for staying and writing. Wishing you will as you get ready for NaNoWriMo.

Yes, it came early, or at least earlier than we hoped. I remember when I was a kid we always had to make sure our Halloween costumes would fit over winter coats and snow pants because it was cold and we sometimes had snow. I know the snow usually doesn’t last when we get it this early, so that’s a bonus, but still, a reminder of what’s coming. Sigh.

Hello! Our “cold” came yesterday and will go away tomorrow. Back into the 80s+. I’ve been trying tho figure out how to juggle work, writing, and housekeeping as well. I can’t not move so when I’m sick I just slow down a little. I like sitting in the a few minutes when I’m not feeling good. I feel like a solar panel! 😁
I signed up for nanowrimo2019 nov 1. I will try my hardest to upkeep that.

Wow! Back to the 80s!? We’re supposed to be back in the 50s by the end of next week. I would prefer 60s, which is where we’re supposed to be, but I’ll take 50s. The 80s is a little warm for me. And yes, sitting in the sun definitely feels good. I always think of Garfield the cat and his “nap attacks” 😀

Ugh! I was hoping we wouldn’t see any, but the coating we got is way better than the foot they got in North Dakota. So glad I don’t live up there!
You should check your NaNo. They redid the website, so we have to reconnect with our buddies, but I can’t find you.

Yep, I think we are NaNo buddies. Part of me can’t wait, part of me dreads it. But I also know it helps me reset the habit of writing every day.
I’m not ready for fall to be over. The trees are so pretty right now; the colors are all over right now. With the wind, though, a lot of those leaves will be gone.

In MN, we can get all 4 seasons in one week. We’re going back to autumn now. As for spring in October, the news had a story on lilacs blooming. I know, I didn’t think that could happen, either!

Snow?!?!? Oh, that is just so wrong in so many ways. The leaves on the trees (in my area) haven’t even completely changed yet. I’m just getting used to the fact I have to wear a light jacket! I hope it melts quickly.
I’m still working on prep for NaNo. Just a few more weeks and it will be here. And I’ve been dragging my feet about getting my collection of short stories together. Why, oh why, are there never enough hours in the day! 🙂

Tell me about it! At least the trees are still wearing their colors. I actually had to scrape frost off my windshield this morning. I am so not ready for that yet. On the bright side, the weather wonks are predicting 60s by the end of the week. Go figure!
And if you find out how to get more hours in a day, let me know. I keep thinking, oh, I’ll catch up. Ha!

Four letter words like snow and cold make me depressed. But winter does keep me inside writing. The weather where I used to live in Wisconsin is mild in comparison. Here we get inches of snow. In Madison, we got feet. Glad to pay for snow removal. Coming home from a night shift and having to shovel off the driveway before getting the kids to school…can’t go back there. Glad I’m not young.

Ugh. Yes, I still live those winter mornings, although the kids are no longer at home to take to the bus. Then again, they could walk down the 1/4 mile driveway if they had to. Now it’s me having the fortune to work from home if I can’t get out of the driveway. Back in the day, before we had the snowblower on the tractor, I would park my car at the end of the driveway so I could get out. A lot has changed since then (especially my job 😀 ). Every winter hubs and I mull about moving someplace warmer. Still, there’s something about MN …

Blimey! Snow already! We seem to be charging into winter! So much for autumn gardening. As for house chores, sometimes writing work has to come first and with November coming up you’re going to be super busy. Good luck with your book then and happy writing! 😀

This past weekend was beautiful, but this week is back to reality. Sigh. Rain, wind, cool. I cleaned out the garden yesterday, all except for my brussels sprouts and kale. Even found a couple leftover zucchini I gave to the chickens. Heh, I keep using my writing as an excuse to put off house chores 😀
